How does Payroll Giving work?
Payroll Giving enables employees to donate money to registered non-profit organisations through their organisation’s payroll. Payroll giving is a simple and easy way for you to support charities where your donation is deducted from your salary or wages. You do not need to set up Automatic Payments, Direct Debits or remember to make a payment at regular intervals – it is all done through your payroll team.
Recently legislation has changed to enable Donors (you the person donating) to receive a tax rebate on your donation to approved Donee Organisations (charities receiving the donation). This means that when you make your regular donation each pay period to Kidney Kids, you do not have to wait until the end of the tax year (31 March) to get your tax rebate. For every dollar you donate you will get back 33.33 cents that pay week. Payroll Giving allows employees to receive immediate tax benefits from their donations each payday. For example, a $30 monthly donation to your favourite charity only takes about $20 out of your pay packet.
This initiative provides tax and administrative benefits for employees while giving them the opportunity to support their chosen charity by donating directly from their pay.

A bequest is a way to remember a special someone or charity in your Will. It is a perfect and fitting way in which to leave behind your footprint, showing to the world that you cared for others. In the case of a bequest to Kidney Kids NZ, you will be saying that you care for children who every day face the challenges that kidney disease brings. That they are not alone and because of your kindness, Kidney Kids NZ can continue to be beside them on their journey.
We highly recommend that your Will is drawn up by your legal advisor so that your wishes are carried out exactly as you intended.
Below is the suggested wording that can be included in your Will. Please consult your Solicitor or legal advisor so that your wishes are recorded legally.
“I give and bequeath the sum of $………. (or) ………% of my estate (or) ………. the residue of my estate (or) ………………………… (description of property or assets) free of all charges to Kidney Kids NZ, to be used where most needed, and the official receipt of an authorised officer from Kidney Kids NZ shall be a full and sufficient discharge to my trustees.”
In Memoriam/ In Lieu of Flowers
This is a very special way in which to remember your loved one. You may wish to invite friends and family to honour your loved ones memory by making a donation to Kidney Kids in lieu of flowers. The Funeral Director can organise to send through the donations to Kidney Kids to our postal address. Receipts along with a letter of thanks will be sent to donors who provide their name and address details. A list of names and addresses and a total amount (not the individual donation amounts) is sent to the family when all donations have come in so the family can send their own thanks.
In lieu of Wedding / Birthday / Special Occasion Gifts
You may wish to invite family and friends to make a donation to Kidney Kids in lieu of engagement/wedding/birthday gift. For soon to be wed couples who feel they have everything they need, this is a special way in which to celebrate their special day and show they care about children facing an often difficult journey.
At Kidney Kids we value every gift to us large or small. Major Gifts however enable us to fund a larger project with more ease. They can also fund smaller projects for longer periods of time, in either case giving Kidney Kids the confidence to know they are future-proofed.
